⁶ “‘I will grant peace in the land,^(A) and you will lie down^(B) and no one will make you afraid.^(C) I will remove wild beasts^(D) from the land, and the sword will not pass through your country. ⁷ You will pursue your enemies,^(E) and they will fall by the sword before you. ⁸ Five^(F) of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your enemies will fall by the sword before you.^(G)

⁷ “Be strong and courageous.^(A) Do not be afraid or discouraged^(B) because of the king of Assyria and the vast army with him, for there is a greater power with us than with him.^(C)

⁸ With him is only the arm of flesh,^(A) but with us^(B) is the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles.”^(C) And the people gained confidence from what Hezekiah the king of Judah said.
